Marcia was born in New York and graduated from Queens College as a speech pathologist. She moved to Texas in 1974 so I guess she’s part Texan by now! Her career evolved after moving to Texas where she continued her education and became a licensed professional (LPC) counselor.

Marcia has always created things from found objects in her surroundings. As a youngster she tried to grow something from every seed she found and to string them into jewelry. She also constructed boxes from found materials to hold collections of shells, marbles, and other treasures. As a teen she started making jewelry from unusual beads and found objects.

Marcia’s work experience, along with her extensive travels, have shaped the way her eclectic approach to surface design. There are definite ethnic influences in her work. While exploring numerous mediums her work retains a “certain look” that is unmistakable. Marcia is now employing her own unique handmade tiles, along with found objects, to create contemporary icons that reflect her interest in Mexican Folk art.

She has also constructed unique boxes and 3-dimensional found object sculptures.
